Local doctor announces urgent care clinic
Sheridan, WY (URGENT CARE CLINIC OF SHERIDAN) July 26, 2004 –
Dr. John Finley will open an urgent care clinic in Sheridan he announced this week. The clinic will open at 1842 Sugarland Drive, #103, across the street from the Holiday Inn, in late August. The Urgent Care Clinic of Sheridan will offer services such as treatment for illness, stabilization of minor fractures, on site x-rays, minor surgery, and laceration repair on a walk-in basis. Dr. Finley says the clinic will be open from 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday, from 9am to 9pm Saturdays and from 10am to 6pm on Sundays and holidays.
“Over use of the emergency room is one of the major causes of the high cost of health care.†Dr. Finley says. “ The Urgent Care Clinic of Sheridan can help reduce those costs in the Sheridan area.†He says the cost of a visit to the urgent care clinic will be similar to a physician’s office visit, much less than the cost of an ER visit. Dr. Finley, a member of the Wyoming Worker’s Compensation Commission, also notes that employers can help keep worker’s comp costs down by sending workers to the urgent care clinic when feasible.
Finley says the clinic will not compete with the hospital emergency room, instead it will take pressure off them by offering an alternative place for treatment of non-emergencies. Finley also notes the clinc is not designed to compete with other local medical practices. Patients who visit the clinic for urgently needed care will return to their regular providers for follow-up and other care. Records from the urgent care clinic will be forwarded to patient’s regular providers.
The clinic will be staffed by physician assistants, nurse practitioners, residents from the Family Practice Residency Program in Casper, as well as Dr. Finley and experienced emergency room and urgent care physician, Dr. Gary Mundy.
Dr. Finley also announced that he will move his private practice to the same building as the Urgent Care Clinic of Sheridan, along with the rest of his Cottonwood Clinic team.
